When we returned from our trip Polly had turned broody and had been that way for a couple of weeks. Jette, our friend and housesitter kicked her out of the coop when she got home from work so Polly could get a feed and a drink as well as some exercise.
For the last week I have been throwing her out the coop a couple of times a day. But she is so grumpy and takes it out on poor Dolly. This afternoon I closed the door to the coop after throwing her out obviously, and had a look after ten minutes. She was fine and free ranging.
After another 30 minutes I had another peek and she was going slightly insane – hitting her beak on the raised garden wood – so I opened the coop up and as soon as she realised it was open she ran back in. Yep: ran…
Any ideas guys? I have been thinking of getting two new chicks but am worried that might work for Polly and she might take to mothering the new chooks, but Dolly might get to be the one in the dog house… This chook business is pretty complicated so any ideas much appreciated!
